Gymnastics Western Australia provide a number of development opportunities through competition and accreditation courses to Gymnastics WA members. In 2022, Gymnastics WA wishes to enhance the development and networking opportunities provided to the community and have launched the Developing Champions Program. Participants of this program will be offered a supportive environment through a series of activities and events for advancing personal and athletic growth.
This program would not be possible without ongoing support from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC). Gymnastics WA wishes to thank DLGSC for their contributions toward Developing Champions and the sport of gymnastics in Western Australia.
The project objectives are as follows:
- To facilitate collaboration between gymsports, clubs and members
- Enhancing the knowledge and skills of the gymsport community to facilitate athletic and personal growth
- Provide a child safe environment and promote child safe practices throughout the sport
- Provide engaging and interactive activities to the program participants
In its maiden year, Gymnastics WA will be inviting State Team nominees and selected athletes and athletes of equivalent levels (aged 12yo+), accredited Advance and above coach and judge members to participate in this program. The majority of this year's sessions are designed to be delivered face-to-face and will explore a variety of topics via workshops and activities.
The 2022 program will focus on the preparation practices which may happen at home, before training or after, with a strong emphasis on psychological preparation.
