Gymnastics WA Brings the Young and Wise Together Through Play

On Wednesday November 17, Gymnastics WA, Play Group WA and the Salvation Army – Third Place joined forces and descended on Theatre Gardens in Subiaco to provide a fun filled morning of activities for 50 under 5’s and their parents and 18 over 60’s.  The event was held in celebration of the impending Social Inclusion Week, with this year’s focus being connect, collaborate and celebrate. The event would not have been possible without the ongoing support of Healthway, through their Go for 2&5 initiative and we would like to acknowledge the additional support of Mercer Mooney and Brownes Dairy for their kind donation of a healthy morning tea for the event.

A Gym Warriors circuit staffed by Gymnastics WA was specifically designed to cater for the varied needs of attendees, allowing for the under 5 participants to engage with the older participants in a safe and collaborative way.  The bright and vibrant circuit was well received and thoroughly enjoyed by all, attracting the attention from passers-by keen to get involved in Gym Warriors too. Further activities provided include sensory play, musical exploration and of course a healthy morning tea!

As the inaugural collaboration between all three organisations, interest has been sparked to develop further opportunities throughout 2022 for clubs to engage in this exciting initiative and provide pathways for ongoing participation in our clubs.
