Team WA Excels in the Northern Territory Championships

The WA Country Team attended the 2021 NT Invitational in Darwin on 18th & 19th September.  This WAG Level 4 – 7 team was comprised solely of athletes from regional WA and competed against athletes from South Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory. This is the first time that Gymnastics WA has selected a team of regional athletes to represent our state and the response from the community in wanting to be a part of this inaugural team was amazing.  The travelling team consisted of 19 athletes, three coaches and one judge.

After COVID forced the postponement of the original event in August, the event was finally held over two days at Marrara Indoor Stadium.  Our team performed at a high standard, with the following notable results:

  • Chloe (Denmark), Alexis (Cape Naturaliste), Eliana (Batavia), Madison (Denmark), Milla (Batavia), Stella (Batavia) – 1st Team
  • Alexis – 1st Overall
  • Eliana -Grace – 2nd Overall
  • Chloe & Stella – 3rd Overall

Congratulations to all of our hard working team athletes, coaches and judges who travelled to this year’s event. Congratulations also to the coaches and staff who were selected but were ultimately unable to attend due to the postponement of the event.  It is hoped that this tour will be the first of many for our regional clubs and that this experience inspires all involved to strive for bigger and better things in 2022.
