Coronavirus (COVID-19) - Gymnastics Australia Statement

Gymnastics Australia understands the growing concerns over the outbreak of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) and the implications it is having on the community.

The health and wellbeing of our gymnasts, coaches, managers and judges is our highest priority in this unforeseen and complex environment.

At GA, we continue to daily monitor and adhere to the advice provided by government organisations, public health units and the World Health Organisation, who are providing accurate, timely and detailed updates relevant to the sporting and the wider community.

We are also liaising with the FIG and other international event organisers about upcoming events in areas of risk.

In the circumstances where an event in cancelled by the local organising committee or where the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) advice changes to travel recommendations, GA may make the difficult decision that is no longer safe or logistically feasible to participate in the tour.

We are and will continue to communicate directly with our teams going to these potentially affected, or at-risk events.

If you are unsure or wish to seek further clarity about your upcoming tour, or have not yet received any communications from GA, please email sport@gymnastics.org.au

Important Resources

The Australian Institute of Sport has a number of useful resources available, which we are monitoring as updates occur and we encourage our members to also refer to this page regularly.

For more detailed information about travel warnings and advice, visit Smart Traveller or the World Health Organisation websites.

We encourage everyone to remain vigilant, calm and more importantly, visit your GP immediately if you are feeling unwell and have been to, or have been in contact with anyone from areas affected.
