Women's Artistic Gymnastics State and Steps Squads Session Wrap Up

The Women's Artistic Gymnastics State Squad and Steps Squad trained on Sunday 25th November at Northern Districts Gymnastic Club. Congratulations to all athletes who were selected onto these Squads for 2018.

During their time on the squad, the selected athletes attend two training sessions with special guidance from selected Master and Squad Coaches. Physical testing was performed at the first State Squad training session in August, with the following athletes being awarded Physical Testing Champions for 2018: Amanda Edwards (Vital), Emma Morris (Vital) and Sophie Corrie (Active). Congratulations on this achievement girls.

There has been a clear increase in skill quality from the first State Squad training session and we believe this will also be the case for the Steps Squad athletes when they train again next year. It is exciting to see a great culture and camaraderie developing between the athletes who are part of these squads, both in the National and International levels.

Gymnastics WA would like to thank our Master Coaches for the 2018 State Squad: Coral King, Joshua Fabian, Katherine Rogers, Alicia Hayes and Matt Smith, all from the NCE Perth who have contributed to the skills level of these athletes which will undoubtedly be evident at Australian Championships in 2019. Thank you also to the Steps Squad Coaches Matt Smith, Amanda Deurloo, Fiona Hearn, Nicole Lawrence and Kris Pudelek. We hope to see you again at the next training session in February.
