2018 Go for 2&5 NWRGA Regional Championships Wrap Up

The NWRGA in conjunction with the Karratha Gymnastics Club, hosted the Go for 2 & 5 NWRGA Regional Gymnastics Championships in Karratha on the weekend of the 30th June and 1st of July. It was an action-packed weekend with 242 athletes competing in six sessions of Men’s / Women’s Artistic Gymnastics and 153 athletes competing in three sessions of Tumbling. Members from Exmouth, Carnarvon, Hedland, Karratha and Pearl Coast Gymnastics Clubs enjoyed the challenge of competing in front of a large crowd of spectators to show off some amazing regional talent.

The competition was officially opened by Simone Fountain from Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries on Saturday morning.  The MAG sessions saw boys competing from Level 1 to 5 while the WAG sessions included gymnasts in ALP Levels 1 to 7.  The competition finished Sunday evening following three fun filled Tumbling sessions (Levels 1 to 4) showcasing some spectacular skills.

There were many outstanding performances over the weekend, with all athletes and coaches putting in a massive effort and giving their best. Coaches from all clubs were extremely pleased with the performance of all their athletes, as were the parents.

Women's and Men's Artistic Gymnastics numbers continue to grow at this event and Tumbling has become a huge success since its introduction in 2016 to the North West and has now cemented its scheduling for future NWRGA competitions.

On Monday 2nd of July, training clinics were held as part of the NWRGA’s commitment to the continued development of NW coaches and athletes. Ruan and Becky worked hard providing dynamic clinics to further expand the growth and development of our regional club coaches and athletes.

The NWRGA would like to thank the Perth judges that attended; Nadia de Vries, Tracy Holmes, Julie Jervis, Becky House, Ruann Minnaar and Matt Lean. This event also saw three newly accredited North West MAG Beginner Judges take the opportunity to gain valuable judging experience alongside Matt, Ruan and Krystal Cilia.
